Can't say enough positive things about this place. First off, was recommended them by a dear friend and when I first talked with them, instantly knew why.I was in the market for a cheap car from a private seller which already is a daunting task at hand, particularly since I was doing the hunting entirely solo, and counting my dollars to make sure I could swing it! Found a 98 Toyota Camry that I liked a lot. Called Honest Mechanic to see if I could bring it in to have them look at before I purchased it but unfortunately, they were swamped and couldn't get it in for three days which didn't work with my, or the seller's schedule. So, I chatted with a guy named Peter on the phone for what was probably a solid five minutes asking him my fears of low coolant under the hood and his speculations on the potential severity of it. He didn't brush me off sounding completely rushed and annoyed I was taking his time unexpectedly on the phone, and he would even answer my crazy, totally ignorant "what if?" questions with total respect and legitimacy! As a female chatting with a car mechanic, this is BEYOND appreciated as you often get unfairly dejected right off the bat when it comes to car mechanics simply because you lack male anatomy. When I got off the phone, I thanked him and joked that we will probably chat again since my saga continues looking for an old cheap car, in which he replied with a laugh and friendly goodbye.I ended up buying the car, and brought it in for a overall diagnostic check and look-over, which included a fluid top-off for $70-$80. A guy named Steve called back by mid-day telling me what they found wrong with the car, which was more than I was hoping it'd be, (when is it not?) but overall not bad for a 98 Toyota Camry. He gave me his personal opinion of "Honestly, if it were my car, I'd invest the money because otherwise, it seems like a gem for a nearly 20 year old car. They're hard to come by but I think you found one." It wasn't car-salesman gimmicky of "yea, come on...spend $800 at my shop" that you so often get. He even had no problem with me getting back to him after I called other shops about price quotes which, again...past auto mechanics have tried strong arming me into staying with them. Overall, he answered all my questions with patience and poise and that I'm eternally grateful for.The added perk: about four days after getting the car back and a mini road trip around Oregon later, I got a flat due to a leaky air valve. I called them, brought it back in and Steve thoroughly inspected the tire, replaced the air valve, and rechecked all of my tire air pressures on my car and had it ready within an hour or so FREE OF CHARGE!It's so nice to stumble on a gem like Honest Mechanic. They truly are honest and treat you like they're working on their family member's car. And you know what? Over 4,000 miles later after a roadtrip through Canada moving to the East Coast, my car is still perfectly running! That's the good news! The bad news is I probably won't find a mechanic as great as this one over here in New England :/Go Here. You won't regret it.
