BEWARE THESE ARE DISHONEST PEOPLE - when I took my 2010 model car to Honest 1 for an oil change on May 6th 2014 it was running great. When I picked it up from getting the oil changed Scott at Honest 1 said that I had a coolant leak and that the coolant fluid was dangerously low so they had to refill it. He then tried to pressure me in to having them flush my car and fix the leak. My intuition, his pressuring demeanor and the fact that my car was running perfectly when I brought it in told me to not let them do anything more with my car. I resisted the pressure, paid for the oil change, drove a mile home and then took my car to a certified mechanic at a different shop the next morning to get the leak checked out. The certified mechanic found that the spring loaded hose clamp holding the water bypass hose to the engine had been purposely moved to create a slow steady leak of coolant fluid. Eventually with driving, pressure and the relocated clamp, the hose would have blown and all the coolant would have leaked out of my car, causing serious damage and potentially an accident . The certified mechanic that found the relocated clamp is absolutely certain this was done on purpose - the air induct had to be disconnected for the Honest 1 tech to even be able to access the clamp - and spring loaded clamps don't move by themselves. I got photos of the clamp, hose, and clamp indentations on the hose. I also have a certified mechanic who will confirm that the only way that the spring loaded clamp could have moved is by human hand. The certified mechanic also showed me my car's oil dipstick and said there is NO WAY that my oil was changed the day before, it was far too black - and my coolant fluids had NOT been replaced/refilled by Honest 1 - special coolant from the dealership is still in my car, so they could not have filled the coolant fluids as they stated. I took photos of the dirty oil on the dipstick. My photos and the mechanic's photos and statement are proof that the service I paid Honest 1 for was NOT performed on my vehicle. Honest 1 spent the time they were supposed to be changing my oil taking off the air induct and moving the hose clamp to create a coolant leak so they could charge me for expensive repair services. DO NOT take your car to Honest 1 unless you have to, and if you do and it's running fine when you go in and has a "COOLANT LEAK" when you pick it up get yourself to a good mechanic right away before the water bypass hose fails. Give your mechanic the information in this post - have your mechanic check the hose clamps, especially the ones that are not readily visible, like the water bypass hose clamp. It's nice and hidden so you wouldn't see that it's been moved an inch to cause a leak. I have photo documentation and a certified, local, long experienced mechanic on my side who really urged me to report this horrible business practice. The mechanic who found the moved clamp is willing to talk with the BBB, Honest 1 and anyone else necessary to get my money refunded and to try to stop Honest 1 from doing this to other people. Thank goodness I got to the right person and got the problem properly diagnosed. Lesson learned. Always trust your instincts. I had a very strong feeling that they had done something bad and dishonest, I didn't like the way they tried to pressure me, - and I was right. I am going to follow this through with the better business bureau complaint I have filed. With all the documentation, pictures and a certified mechanic in my corner I will get my money back.
